Formerly known as the Architecture Film Days, the event evolves this year into the Architecture Festival Zürich (AFZ).
This October, Zürich becomes a stage for architecture, film, and urban experiments. The festival invites audiences to experience architecture in all its facets — from exhibitions and film screenings to discussions, the interactive Creative Marketplace, and urban walks.

FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS

Exhibition (from October 14, Zentralwäscherei)

• Maria Pomiansky & Vadim Levin document Zürich’s transformation through painting and drawing.

• Patricia Bucher presents sculptural works and furniture made from leftover materials — a statement on reuse and sustainability.

• Florian Bachmann & Marcus Pericin (Farb-Licht-Zentrum, ZHdK)transform spaces into three-dimensional drawings with lines of light.

• CompMonks, a Zurich-based new media architect and researcher, explores the intersection of human cognition and technology through Dreamcatcher, a series that materialises digitised dreams using brain data and generative AI.

Film Program & Discussions

The festival presents a diverse selection of international and Swiss films, including several premieres.

Talks & Discussions

• Women in Architecture– insights, projects, and conversations on female perspectives and collective practice.

• Artist Talk & Book Presentation: David Szauder– art, architecture, and AI, accompanied by a short film and book launch.

• Architecture Magazine Panel– “Mediating the Mediation of Architecture”: HSLU students and experts discuss current projects and future tools of architectural publishing.

• Materials of the Future– Make Materials Matterand a discussion on building with clay.

Creative Marketplace Weekend (October 18–19)

Over 30 exhibitors present their work, and workshops invite visitors to get hands-on.
A platform for local projects, experimental products, and direct exchange with creatives.

City Walk (Sunday, October 19)

City as a Playground– a video walk through Zürich’s Greencity (Manegg) by Lukas Sander, turning the city into a field for exploration and experimentation.

Bisher als Architektur Filmtage bekannt, entwickelt sich das Event ab diesem Jahr zum Architecture Festival Zürich: Im Oktober wird Zürich zum Schauplatz für Architektur, Film und urbane Experimente. • Maria Pomiansky & Vadim Levin dokumentieren den Wandel Zürichs mit Malerei und Zeichnungen.
• Patricia Bucher zeigt skulpturale Arbeiten und Möbel aus Restmaterialien – ein Plädoyer für Umnutzung und Nachhaltigkeit.
• Florian Bachmann & Marcus Pericin (Farb-Licht-Zentrum, ZHdK) verwandelt Räume mit Lichtlinien in dreidimensionale Zeichnungen.

• CompMonks, ein in Zürich tätiger New-Media-Architekt und Forscher, untersucht in seiner Serie Dreamcatcher die Schnittstelle zwischen menschlicher Wahrnehmung und Technologie, indem er digitalisierte Träume mittels Gehirndaten und generativer KI materialisiert.

Das Festival präsentiert ein vielfältiges Programm internationaler und Schweizer Filme, darunter mehrere Premieren.

• Artist Talk & Buchpräsentation: David Szauder – Kunst, Architektur und KI, ergänzt durch Kurzfilm und Buchlaunch.
• Podium Architekturzeitschriften – Die Vermittlung der Architekturvermittlung: HSLU-Studierende und Expert:innen diskutieren aktuelle Arbeiten und zukünftige Tools von Architekturmagazinen.
• Materialien der Zukunft – Make Materials Matter und Diskussion über Bauen mit Lehm.

Creative Marketplace Weekend (18.–19. Oktober)

Über 30 Ausstellende präsentieren ihre Arbeiten, Workshops laden zum Mitmachen ein. Eine Plattform für lokale Projekte, experimentelle Produkte und direkten Austausch mit den Kreativen.

Stadtspaziergang (Sonntag, 19. Oktober)

City as a Playground – ein Videowalk durch Greencity Zürich (Manegg) von Lukas Sander, der die Stadt zum Experimentierfeld macht.
